Tucked away in the quiet lanes of Vidyaranyapura, Bangalore, Ashirwad is more than just a holiday home—it’s an experience shaped by light, materiality, and thoughtful design. Built as a tranquil retreat for Dubai-based couple Santosh and Deepali, this duplex home, designed by Ar. Lavannya Goradia and executed by Studio Alaya's in-house team, embodies a seamless blend of sustainability and contemporary elegance. From the moment I stepped into Ashirwad, I knew this was a space where light played the protagonist. Multiple skylights punctuate the ceilings, allowing the sun to choreograph its journey across the interiors—casting long morning shadows, diffusing into a soft glow by afternoon, and setting the space aglow in golden hues by dusk. As a photographer, my challenge was not just to document this interplay but to translate its emotion—to capture how light breathes life into the raw textures of exposed materials, how it dances along the curves of the walls, and how it transforms an architectural space into something deeply personal and immersive. Every frame I composed aimed to tell the story of Ashirwad—a home that doesn’t just stand still but evolves with the passing hours. Through my lens, I sought to reveal the dialogue between structure and nature, between stillness and movement, and between architecture and the intangible feeling of belonging.
