In the quiet suburbs of Yelahanka in Bengaluru, nestled between the hum of the city and the serenity of nature, stands a home that feels less like a structure and more like a story waiting to be told. Designed by Ar. Lavannya Goradia of Studio Alaya, and built by the in-house team, this house is not just a dwelling—it is a reflection of the deep bond shared by two sisters Asha & Usha who call it home. As I stepped in with my camera, the first thing that struck me wasn’t just the design, but the way light shaped the space. A modest skylight, almost unassuming at first, became the heart of the house, inviting the sun to paint shifting patterns across the walls. Morning light streamed in gently, casting soft glows on textured surfaces, while by afternoon, the interplay of light and shadow transformed the interiors into a canvas of movement. The materials, raw and honest, spoke of sustainability, grounding the house in a philosophy that respects the earth as much as it shelters its inhabitants. Every corner whispered a quiet intimacy—light spilling over a reading nook, soft reflections dancing on the floor, a golden hue settling in as the day waned. Through my lens, I wasn’t just capturing architecture; I was capturing the essence of a home built with love, a space that breathes with the rhythm of two lives intertwined. In its simplicity lies its magic, a home that doesn’t just stand still but evolves with time, much like the journey of the sisters who built it.
